Challenge – Thank You and Pink/Grey

Challenge – Thank You and Pink/Grey

I had a lot of fun working on the last card challenge, so I thought I’d try a couple more.

The CAS on Friday challenge is to create a Thank You card and the CAS-ual Fridays challenge is to create a pink and grey card.  Since they are both “clean and simple” challenges, I thought I’d combine them.

Here is the card I created.

I used the Spellbinders Wagonwheel Kaleidoscope die to cut the bright pink paper and glued this to the card front.  I stamped “Thanks” in Tsukineko VersaFine Smokey Gray ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  To add a bit more gray to the card, I cut a thin strip of gray cardstock and glued it to the left and right of the sentiment.

More Baby Shower Invitations and Thank You’s

In my last post, I showed the Harry Potter themed baby shower invitations and thank you cards. Those cards led to my next project — another “set” of invites and thank you’s. My friend’s sister was throwing a baby shower and hadn’t found what she was looking for – bumble bees. So I came up with this simple design for the invitations…

and the coordinating Thank You cards.

I had a honeycomb embossing folder in my stash, so was able to make good use of it for both the invitations and the thank you’s. On the invitations the bumble bee is colored using copic markers and a glitter pen (to outline the wings) and the flower is heat embossed.  On the Thank You cards, I used a border punch for the black paper strip and a scalloped circle punch for the sentiment.

Baby Shower Invitations and Thank You’s

Hi. In my first post I wrote about making monogram cards. I had made a set to include in a Christmas gift for a friend. A few months later, she was looking for baby shower invitations and hadn’t been able to find what she was looking for.

So, we made an evening of thumbing through card magazines for ideas. I enjoy looking through magazines for inspiration so have quite a collection. We were able to find a layout she liked and I made a mock up.

Since the baby shower theme was Harry Potter, I went on the hunt for Gryffindor colored paper and coordinating cardstock. The pattern paper is Reminisce – Wizard 101 Collection Plaid 4 which I ordered online. The cardstock, ribbon, and buttons I purchased at my local craft stores. The ink and stamps were already in my stash.

Here is the finished card.

To complete the “set”, I also made coordinating Thank You cards.

My friend wrote the interior text, which continued the Harry Potter theme of witches, wizards and muggles, which I printed on coordinating cardstock and added to the inside of the invitations.

My Craft Show Experience…

My Craft Show Experience…

For this post, I thought I’d share my first and only craft show experience. I was approached to participate by a show organizer who had seen some cards I had created. I had never done a craft show but thought I’d give it a try. While I didn’t sell many cards at the show, I did meet another show participant who sends Thank You notes to her customers and thought handmade cards would be a nice touch. She bought a few cards at the show and asked if I could make more.

While I like just sitting down and making whatever strikes me at the time, sometimes I do enjoy having a specific goal or theme in mind. For these cards, I pulled out all my Thank You stamps and could then just focus on picking papers and coming up with different layouts.

This is the first batch of cards that I made.

When those ran out, she contacted me for another batch.

While the theme was “Thank You”, she was open to any colors and layouts which made the project fun for me. Hopefully she’ll contact me again.
